3 new restaurants open in town

By Joanne Yeo - Wednesday, Oct 03, 2012

The dark looming shadows of an economic downturn is in sight, yet they keep opening. So if you heading to town this week but want something new to go with the new hairstyle or dress of yours, there’s at least three newly opened restaurants in town to vie for your attention.

Kilo at PACT

Who says we can’t multitask when we eat? At PACT, customers can do all three tasks of dining, clothes shopping and hairdressing all at one place.  Opened just around two weeks ago, Pact is a new collaborative venture between three partners: Japanese & Italian restaurant, Kilo; menswear boutique, K.I.N and Japanese hair salon, PACT+LIM.

Unlike its first outlet at Kampong Bugis, Kilo at PACT offers a Japanese- Vietnamese inspired menu that is served in a setting of concrete industrial-looking interior. On its menu, you can find dishes such as Baby Eggplant Donburi ($12), Beef Short Rib Rice Bowl ($18) and our Avocado-Wasabi Tuna Tartare + Flour Chips ($17).

Address: 181 Orchard Road #02-16/17/18/19 Orchard Central, Singapore 238896 Opening hours: 11am -10pm (Tues – Sun), closed on Monday

Amuse

Amuse is Orchard Hotel’s newest 125-seater casual eatery and bar that offers a selection of international small bites and drinks. Dishes include Chef’s signature items like Crispy Pork Croutons served with lightly smoked eel ($17), Iberico pork belly ($12) and  locally- inspired Chilli Crab ‘Mantou’ Bun ($9),

Food aside, allow the restaurant to ‘amuse’ you with live entertainment and action from behind the open concept kitchen and bar. Customers can choose to dine indoor or go al fresco outdoor or at the verdena.

Address: 442 Orchard Road #01-29 Orchard Hotel, Singapore 238879 Opening hours: 3pm to 11pm (from 19 to 30 September 2012); 12pm to 3pm and 6pm to 11pm (from 1 October 2012)

La Catine by Bruno Menard

Enjoy your favourite French classics with a twist at Former 3 Star Michelin Chef, Bruno Menard’s newest restaurant, La Cantine. From the menu, Chef Bruno recommends dishes such as Scottish Salmon Unilateral and Caramelised Pork Belly.

After the main courses, complete your meal with some of the Chef’s original desserts creations (from $10++ to $16++) like Warm chocolate macaroon and Traditional “Babu au Rhum”.
