For the worldly gourmand
By Lorraine Koh - Wednesday, Apr 11, 2012
An annual gastronomical event in which foodies from all over gather to eat, drink and be merry, the World Gourmet Summit is back. In its 16th year, this year’s theme is “A Heritage of Flavours” and promises to combine the best of the old and new in culinary tastes. From 23 April to 3 May, 2012, events held include cooking workshops, dinners by renowned chefs, cocktails and wine dinners and talks by gourmet leaders. Special guest chefs include Chef Marco Pierre White (UK), Paco Roncero (Spain), Michel Sarran (France) and many others.
New to the World Gourmet Summit this year is the Citibank Gastronomic Jam Sessions, a two-day event that will feature back–to-back demonstrations of culinary techniques and trends by visiting guest chefs alongside local chefs. It will combine culinary education with entertainment.
Cuisines from top chefs will be paired with outstanding wines from renowned estates and includes Champagne Penet-Chardonnet and Weingut Johanninger. 23-year-old Annika Strebel, who was given the title German Wine Queen, also a vintner (wine merchant), is one of the special guests at the World Gourmet Summit.
Public bookings are now open. Call 6270 1254 for reservations or visit http://www.worldgourmetsummit.com/wgs2012/ for more details.
