Restaurant Week
By Lorraine Koh - Wednesday, Oct 12, 2011
When: 9 – 16 October 2011
What To Eat:
Restaurant week is back swankier and tastier than the previous March offering. The bi-annual gourmet event sees a whopping 87 restaurants for their October edition with notable names such as Garibaldi Italian Restaurant & Bar and One Rochester. Now to be honest, we were not entirely sold on the concept of Restaurant Week, that is until fellow writer Sheere Ng and someone who has attended the March rendition of Restaurant Week pointed out, “We’re talking about restaurants which would costs about double on a typical day, so Restaurant Week really encourages you to try out places you would not normally dine at.”
The restaurants will offer exclusive three-course dinners at a price of S$35++ and three-course lunches at S$25++ (Note: Some restaurants may charge a supplement of S$15 for lunch and S$20 for dinner, thus the set lunch or dinner may cost $40++ and $55++ respectively. Terms and conditions apply).
We tried the Berkshire Porkbelly Meets Safron Risotto at Novus Restaurant, Bar, Café & Courtyard. It may sound rather heavy on paper, but on plate it’s eye candy and the pork belly melts in your mouth. The risotto is a cheesy treat, although if you are not a fan of the Parmesan, we suggest you try the Duck Confit instead.
Desi Wentink, managing director of the organiser DiningCity Singapore, says: “This is the third time we are organising Singapore Restaurant Week and we are looking forward to a great response as diners can expect a diverse selection of new dining choices during this upcoming Restaurant Week.”
